The BC700XL is powered by a 25 hp (18.6 kW) Kohler EFI engine and comes equipped with a centrifugal clutch, a bottom feed stop bar, and Vermeer’s SmartFeed feed-sensing control system. The centrifugal clutch engages smoothly, helping to reduce belt slippage during operation, which in turn lowers wear and ongoing maintenance requirements.

The electronic fuel-injected Kohler engine delivers reliable performance, especially during cold starts, while minimising the risk of engine flooding. Compared to traditional carbureted engines, it also offers better fuel efficiency. Its large infeed opening allows operators to easily handle uneven or awkward material, reducing the need for extra cutting before feeding.

SmartFeed technology continuously monitors engine speed and automatically adjusts the feed rollers to maintain optimal performance. This helps improve productivity while protecting key engine components from unnecessary strain. For added safety, the bottom feed stop bar is positioned so it can be activated quickly by the operator’s leg in both routine and emergency situations. The wide axle design provides increased side-to-side stability and also improves visibility and control when transporting or reversing the machine.

  • Centrifugal Clutch: Clutch that uses centrifugal force to engage itself. The inner shaft spins with the engine and a s rpms are increased, it causes weighted arms to swing outward to engage the outer shaft which runs a belt and engages the disc on the chipper. The centrifugal clutch engagement prevents belt slip when engaging the clutch which means fewer maintenance costs.
  • Dual Edge Cutter Knives: Dual Edge cutter knives helps to increase knife life by having two usable edges rather than one.
  • Electronic-Fuel-Injected (EFI) Engine: The BC700XL has a 25HP (18.6 kW) EFI Kohler Engine. It performs well during cold weather starts, has reduced occurrence of engine flooding, and provides improved fuel economy over comparable carbureted gas engines.
  • Electronically Switched Bottom Feed Stop Ba: The bottom feed stop bar is strategically located to make it possible for the operator’s leg to strike the bar and shut off the feed mechanism either intentionally or automatically in an emergency situation. Reset/Hold-to-run buttons on each side fo the infeed housing allow the operator to readily reset the system if the bar is tripped.
  • Large Infeed Opening: The 6” x 8” (15.2cm x 20.3cm) rectangular opening is capable of taking material up to 6” (15.2cm) in diameter. The large infeed opening makes feeding irregular material easier and decreases the amount of saw cuts needed prior to feeding the chipper.
  • Smartfeed Control System: SmartFeed is a patented feed-sensing control system which monitors the engine rpm and automatically stops and reverses the feed rollers when feeding large hardwood material. This exclusive system from Vermeer helps increase operator productivity and reduces strain on vital engine parts, as engine rpm is monitored and feed rollers are controlled.
  • Two Degree Knife Mount: The cutting knives are mounted at a two degree angle on the disc. Having the knife mounted at 2 degrees helps maintain a consistent feed rate into the disc, permitting for better quality chips and less stress on the system.
  • Wide Axle: A wide axle is standard to increase stability. The offers a wide footprint at the axle for side-to-side stability; additionally enhances transportability and visibility while backing up.
