HG6800TX Horizontal Grinder
The Vermeer HG6800TX is an industrial-scale horizontal grinder designed for maximum throughput and continuous operation. Engineered to handle oversized and difficult material, it is commonly used by large-scale recycling operations, forestry companies, bio mass & renewable energy producers and industrial waste processors operating in demanding environments.
Specifications
Overview
Built for land-clearing and pipeline right-of-way operations, the HG6800TX horizontal grinder offers a high-horsepower engine on a tracked machine with a compact design. Featuring 950 hp (708 kW) in a 92,000 lb (41,730.5 kg) class, and an infeed design designed specifically for feeding larger materials such as whole trees and large stumps, the new grinder is built to power through tough materials with less operator interaction.
Features & Benefits
- Aggressive feed roller: Feed roller designed with high torque and crush capabilities | The aggressive feed roller design on the HG6800TX offers powerful torque and crushing capabilities to take a whole tree in one pass
- Bolt-in replaceable wear plates: Wear plates are installed on the anvil surface, mill box side plates and mill lid | The plates enable the economical replacement of wear surfaces without torching and welding, extending the useable life of the machine and contributing to low cost of operation.
- Damage Defense system: Damage Defense system reduces the likelihood of certain metal contaminants from entering the hammermill by reacting to the initial contact with the contaminant and reversing the feed system to allow removal of the contaminant. | Machine damage caused by metal contaminants entering the hammermill can be costly. The Vermeer Damage Defense system helps owners keep their machine productive by detecting certain metal contaminants to help stop them from being processed by the hammermill
- Engine horsepower: Equipped with a 950 hp (708 kW) Cat C27 Tier 4 Final engine | The dynamic combination of a high-horsepower engine on a machine boasting a compact design results in a versatile horizontal grinder with high production.
- Feed roller height: Feed roller can climb up to 50” (127 cm) | The high range of motion allows the feed roller to climb up to 50” (127 cm) in order to crush logs or stumps that need to be rolled, allowing the operator flexibility for different material inputs.
- Infeed table design: Low side walls | The HG6800TX features low side walls to aid in feeding whole trees with minimal restriction, reducing the number of operator interactions with the material after loading and allowing the operator to focus on the next load.
- Optimal cutting performance: Equipped with the Series III hard-faced duplex drum | The III hard-faced duplex drum is the latest generation of the Vermeer duplex drum design. The Series III drum offers durability and convenient maintenance, with the ability to remove and replace single hammers and balance the drum externally.
- Optional DT6 dolly transport: Optional dolly transport built by Vermeer for its HG6000TX or HG6800TX horizontal grinders | The DT6 optional integrated dolly transport system eliminates the need for a dedicated trailer to move between jobsites, lowers transport height, and offers increased mobility when transporting
- Optional screen hoist: Optional screen hoist for removing screens | The screen hoist reduces the time to change screens by reducing dependency on a separate lifting device, allowing the operator to independently switch screen sizes in a timely manner. The screen hoist can be operated with the remote control or the main controls.
- SmartFeed and auto reverse systems: Feed control system monitors engine rpm and adjusts feed rate to maintain desired rpm. The selector switch allows the operator to choose between SmartFeed, auto reverse and manual feed modes. SmartFeed is a proportional control which will adjust infeed speed of the feed chain and feed roller according to engine rpm drop. If the engine rpm falls at or below the specified engine rpm, the infeed system will stop or reverse momentarily to allow the engine rpm’s to recover. Auto reverse will maintain desired infeed speed and reverse the feed roller and infeed chain only when the engine rpm’s fall below programmed setting. | SmartFeed allows the operator to choose between different feed programs suited best for the particular job, providing optimal machine performance with less interaction between the operator and infeed controls to prevent engine stalls. Allows the operator to focus on raw material feeding and finish product removal.
- Thrown Object Deflector (TOD): A patented hydraulically controlled TOD protrudes over the hammermill area and deflects material down into the feed table. This feature is hinged and can be raised or lowered simply with the remote or main controls, depending upon grinding applications. | The TOD decreases the quantity and distance of thrown objects, and allows the machine to be operated in a smaller “safe” work zone.
- Transceiver remote control: A transceiver remote with LCD display | The functionality of the machine is increased with the remote control, allowing the operator to stay in the loader longer throughout the day. The controller has a fault log, machine control menu and the ability to supply the user with machine operating information to monitor the machine’s health.
